Profile Summary

I am an experienced scientific writer and researcher who has worked in both in academia and in industry. I have a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering investigating graphene modified carbon fibre composites for the aerospace industry. Since completing my PhD I have worked in a patent attorney firm and in patent litigation which requires an exceptional level of accuracy. As a result of my education and my work experience I am adept at being able to spot subtle yet key differences in written work, and I excel at communication of complicated scientific concepts in simpler terms without compromising on detail. The technology I analyse could cover anything from telecommunications, automotive engineering, artificial intelligence and more. I regularly write technical notes which are used as a basis for court documents and have twice attended the UK Patents Court. An important part of my role is getting to grips quickly with a technology, even if it is unfamiliar, and explaining it to the lawyers some of whom do not come from a technical background. Conducting research, reading and understanding scientific papers and patents are daily aspects of my role.
