I am an applied social anthropologist specialising in understanding the experiences of vulnerability and marginalisation for oppressed communities. I have worked extensively with refugee communities in the US, UK and Kenya studying family networks, the damaging effects of hostile policies, community development programmes, and gender-based violence. I have experience working with local governments, NGOs, community based organisations and university research centres. I am a strong advocate in empowerment project models and the dissolution of neo-colonial models of development practices. I am an expert in qualitative research methods including semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and focus groups. I am also comfortable doing all of my data collection online if necessary and for which I have done for several research projects.
