Profile Summary

I am currently an Associate Professor of Engineering in the Department of Physics and Engineering at California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB), California, USA. At CSUB, I am responsible for teaching various core engineering and upper-division petroleum engineering elective courses (Introduction to Petroleum Exploration and Production, Reservoir Simulation, Reservoir Eng., Petroleum Production Eng., and Drilling Eng. and Completion Technology). I also maintain a vibrant and externally-funded program of research at CSUB. An author of two Springerbriefs books, I have published more than a dozen technical articles in premium scientific journals. My research interests and areas of expertise include geologic and terrestrial CO2 storage, innovative CO2 capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies, numerical reservoir modeling and simulation, reservoir rock/fluid/fluid interactions, thermal and non-thermal enhanced oil recovery (EOR), produced water management and treatment, CO2-reservoir oil minimum miscibility pressure (MMP), pressure transient analysis, and general reservoir engineering topics such as PVT and SCAL studies. I also serve as a faculty advisor for the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) student chapter at CSUB. Before joining CSUB in Fall 2013, I was a Research Manager (Reservoir Engineering) with the Plains CO2 Reduction (PCOR) Partnership led by the Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC) at the University of North Dakota, North Dakota, USA. At EERC, I started my career as a Research Engineer (Petroleum) in 2011. I also worked as a Reservoir Engineer with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), India, from 2001 to 2006. I hold a Ph.D. degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Louisiana State University (LSU), Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA. During my Ph.D. program at LSU (2007-2011), I won the Nico Van Wingen memorial graduate fellowship in 2009, which is awarded by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Foundation to the Ph.D. (petroleum engineering) student(s) who intend to join academia.
