Profile Summary

I am a PhD-level Bioinformatics Scientist specializing in microbiome research, genome-resolved metagenomics, single-cell genomics, and integrative multi-omics analysis. My work focuses on understanding complex microbial communities in environmental and engineered systems, with particular expertise in anaerobic digestion, biogas production, and biopolymer degradation. During my doctoral and postdoctoral research at Hanyang University, I have developed and applied end-to-end bioinformatics workflows for large-scale omics datasets, including metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, and metabolomics. I have extensive experience in genome-resolved analysis, including assembly, binning, and refinement of metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs), followed by taxonomic classification and functional annotation using tools such as MEGAHIT, MetaBAT2, CheckM, GTDB-Tk, DRAM, and dbCAN. My expertise extends to integrating multi-omics datasets to uncover metabolic pathways, microbial interactions, and system-level functionality. I have worked on constructing genome-scale metabolic models (GEMs) and community interaction models (e.g., SMETANA), enabling predictive insights into microbial ecosystems. I am also experienced in analyzing CAZyme profiles, plastizyme distribution, and functional enzyme systems relevant to hydrolysis, acidogenesis, acetogenesis, and methanogenesis. In addition, I have strong experience in data visualization and interpretation, generating publication-quality figures including heatmaps, co-occurrence networks, Sankey diagrams, and pathway maps using R and Python. I am comfortable working in Linux-based environments, high-performance computing systems, and reproducible workflows. My research contributions include metagenomic analyses of multiple full-scale biogas plants, identification of key microbial consortia driving methane production, and integration of omics data to improve biomethane yield. I have also worked on microbial systems involved in biodegradable plastic degradation and environmental microbiome dynamics. I am particularly interested in collaborating on projects involving microbiome data analysis, metagenomics and single-cell genomics, multi-omics integration, and environmental or industrial biotechnology applications. I provide clear, reproducible, and publication-ready results, and I am experienced in working with interdisciplinary teams.
