Hi there. My research interests fall in three domains: how children think, how children think with their caregivers, and how children think in school. I am concerned most with the mathematics and science domains although I believe the domain-general task of higher order thinking, is one of great import to academic success. To that end, I have studied fidelity of implementation and sustainability of reform, classroom mathematics and science practice, and the role of parental linguistic and gestural input on children's development of higher order thinking. As an Institute of Education Sciences predoctoral fellow at the University of Chicago, I was also concerned with applying rigorous statistical methods to the study of child learning and development, while acknowledging the depth that qualitative approaches bring to any research endeavor.
After completing my PhD, I was a post-doctoral scholar at Teachers College, Columbia University where I worked with early childhood educators to develop their mathematical practice, as well as research interactive math storybook reading.
Currently I am a Harvard Strategic Data Project fellow leading a data science team at the College Board.
