Profile Summary

As a highly driven and entrepreneurial person I am interested in solving complex problems with highly interdisciplinary international teams. I like the unknown and frequently challenge myself in gaining and applying knowledge in new disciplines. Moreover, I enjoy being a pioneer and initiator, which led to several networking organizations. What interests me in my professional life is working with different cultures in an international interdisciplinary R&D team, where I can make use of my creative and inquisitive character to work on new innovations, and apply my leadership, mentoring and networking skills to lead such a team into new challenging directions. As a researcher I am interested in R&D of in vitro models, and point-of-care systems for healthcare and microbiology research, using microtechnology and data science. I have taught this knowledge in courses and as a mentor. I also have published in a number of peer-reviewed journals and presented at different conferences, including invited keynotes. Having been part of several international research teams that are technology driven, and then applying this technology in, or collaborating with, biology driven teams gives me unique insight of the requirements of the biology or biologist and how technology is perceived and how it can be best applied and implemented.
