Profile Summary

I am from Istanbul, Turkey, and I am a candidate of Bachelor of Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), double majoring in Computer Science and Molecular Biology and Mathematics. I have had 4+ years of lab experience in various fields, including but not limited to computational biology and bioinformatics, computational mathematics, and biochemistry. My research interests include prognostic modeling, algorithm optimization, analysis of microarray data, gene expression, drug discovery and development, and personal genomics. I have worked as a visiting member of Berger Lab at Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), on protein structure database search via entropy-based hierarchical clustering. I have also worked on investigating methods to organize RNAseq data generated by highly parallel genome-wide expression profiling in order to better understand evolutionary connections between gene expression patterns at the Center for Computational and Integrative Biology at Massachusetts General Hospital. I am currently at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT, using computational methods to help confirm the findings on the gene Hmgcs2, which encodes the rate-limiting enzyme during the production of ketone bodies, by analyzing the single-cell RNA sequencing data in Yilmaz Lab. I am a current member of MENSA Turkey, Society for Science and the Public (SSP), and International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB). Let's have coffee!
