Profile Summary

With over 14 years of experience in plant biology, I specialize in molecular biology, plant biotechnology, microbiology, plant physiology and plant pathology. Over the past 10 years, I’ve polished my expertise in molecular biology techniques such as cloning, vector design and preparation, bacterial culture (E. coli, Agrobacterium tumefaciens), plasmid extraction, PCR (general PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR), and DNA/RNA extraction. Currently, I am working on supervising and training students and technicians on plant tissue culture and transformation to produce transgenic and CRISPR-edited lines. I then analyze the lines for herbicide resistance and copy number to select and produce single copy homozygous lines for transgenic lines. I identify CRISPR edited lines and then work to obtain null segregant gene-edited soybean lines. I have extensive experience working with plant pathogens such as fungal and fungal-like pathogens, such as Fusarium graminearum, Phytophthora infestans, Alternaria solani and bacterial pathogens such as Streptomyces scabies. My knowledge spans a wide range of plant science disciplines, including microbiology, biochemistry, agronomy, horticulture, and soil science, equipping me with a well-rounded skillset to tackle complex research questions. I am adept at using bioinformatics tools such as SnapGene, Geneious, Mega, and Benchling, which allow me to analyze and interpret large datasets with ease. In addition, I also have hands-on experience conducting varietal trials, soil chemistry analysis, pesticide formulation, and application, leveraging my strong statistical background with tools like SPSS, R, SAS and GraphPad Prism to provide actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making.
