Profile Summary

I have a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences, and M. Sc. and Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, one of the top 3 Universities of Brazil. From September 2012 to September 2013 I was a visiting researcher at IPATIMUP, one of the top leading institutes of cancer research in Portugal, where I conducted experiments for my Ph.D. thesis. During this period, I had the opportunity to contribute with some of the students, who were working with H. pylori proteases and virulence factors acting on cell-cell interactions. There, I learned new infection biology strategies and how to design protease-substrate experiments. During most of my career, I investigated the inflammatory and angiogenic properties of an important virulence factor of the pathogen Helicobacter pylori, which causes gastric cancer. From 2016 to 2018 I worked as a substitute professor at the Federal University of Pelotas, being responsible for courses such as cell biology, histology, and comparative embryology.
