Profile Summary

My education and experience includes a PhD in microbiology along with three years of postdoc experience. I have been actively involved in Microbiology and CRISPR research from the last 10 years as a Senior Research Fellow in India (NBAIM-ICAR), PhD student in South Korea and Post-doctoral researcher in USA. During my doctorate study at Seoul National University, I explored the the regulation of redox-active molecules responsive genes in the soil-inhabiting bacteria Streptomyces coelicolor A3 (2) in comparison with E. coli and P. aeruginosa through molecular, genetic and biochemical approaches (bacterial stress responses). Together, these experiences have given me a broad view of the bacterial genetics and physiology. This work resulted several publications in various SCI journals (Journal of Bacteriology, Molecular Microbiology, and Frontiers in Microbiology). After PhD, I continued my research work at Harvard Medical School as a post-doctoral researcher on Investigating essential gene function in Mycobacterium tuberculosis using an efficient CRISPR interference system. We published these results in Nucleic Acid Research (Singh et al., 2016).
