Profile Summary

I'm a bioengineering researcher with an MRes in Bioengineering (Distinction) from Imperial College London and a B.Tech in Bioengineering (First Class with Distinction, 8.79 CGPA) from MIT-ADT University, India. My work sits at the intersection of cell biology, neuroscience, and computational analysis, with hands-on training across mammalian cell culture, microscopy, molecular techniques, and data analysis. Current role. I'm a Research Assistant in the Morse Lab at Imperial College London's Department of Bioengineering, working on focused ultrasound and 3D-printed hydrogel models of the blood–brain barrier (BBB). Day-to-day, I co-culture astrocytes, pericytes, and endothelial cells to build an organ-on-a-chip BBB model, analyse dendritic spines from mouse brain tissue using IMARIS, and maintain sterile protocols and experimental records across parallel projects. I also support PhD and MSc students with their thesis work, which has sharpened both my technical reliability and my written and verbal communication. MRes thesis (Sept 2024 – Oct 2025). I designed an in-vitro system to study audible sound stimulation on mammalian cells and characterised its effects on cell proliferation, migration, and ethanol toxicity in BV2, U87, HDF, HeLa, and HEK293T lines. The project included live imaging of Piezo-1 ion channels in magnetically transfected BV2 microglia using confocal microscopy. The work is being written up as a manuscript for IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering. Previous research (June 2023 – June 2024). As a research intern at the Agharkar Research Institute in Pune, I worked across three areas: cell biology (UV/IR/microwave/sound-exposure studies and ROS/PCNA screening on NIH3T3, MDAMB321, L132, and SHSY-5Y lines); materials science (graphene–cellulose scaffolds for 3D cultures, PDMS microfluidics, cadmium-telluride quantum dot synthesis); and computational chemistry (molecular docking and MD simulations of 2,500+ curcumin derivatives against COX-2, published in Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry, doi:10.1002/bab.70106). I built Python pipelines and Minitab DoE to analyse multi-condition datasets and identify candidate molecules. Student-led projects. I led a six-person team on my institute's first student-led project: engineering a sound-inducible plasmid in E. coli to modulate metabolite production, which secured INR 200,000 in funding and won a bronze medal at the iGEM SynBio Indian League (Best Documentation & Troubleshooting team). Skills. Mammalian cell culture (cancer and non-cancer lines), aseptic technique, transfection (bacterial and mammalian), MTT and viability assays, immunofluorescence, confocal and live-cell microscopy, IMARIS image analysis, 3D cell culture, molecular docking (AutoDock Vina, Schrödinger Maestro), and Python (pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib, seaborn) for data analysis. Familiar with flow cytometry, qPCR, Western Blot, and ELISA principles. Comfortable working from SOPs, contributing to risk assessments, and HSE-aware.
