Profile Summary

I am a Marine Biotechnology and Bioinformatics specialist with a PhD in Chemical Oceanography from CSIR–National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa. My research focuses on metagenomic analysis of deep-sea environments, particularly cold seeps and hydrothermal vents, with an emphasis on hydrocarbon-degrading microbial communities for bioremediation applications. I have extensive experience in shotgun metagenomics, whole-genome sequencing (WGS) analysis, 16S/COI amplicon metabarcoding (QIIME2), genome assembly, annotation, and microbial culturing. I have also conducted bioprospecting of bioactive natural products from marine microbes and analyzed antibiotic resistance genes in environmental and host-associated microbiomes. As co-founder of Marigenome, I provide end-to-end bioinformatics solutions, NGS data analysis, microbial testing, and molecular biology support for academic and industrial clients. I have led and conducted multiple hands-on workshops in molecular biology, microbiology, and bioinformatics, training students and researchers in experimental and computational techniques. I am skilled in designing and executing comparative microbial studies, integrating multi-omics data, and delivering actionable insights for research, environmental monitoring, and biotechnological applications.
