Profile Summary

I am a dedicated researcher with a Ph.D. in Infectious Diseases from Nitte University, India, where I specialized in understanding the role of outer membrane proteins in antibiotic resistance in Salmonella. My research interests focus on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and microbial genomics, with a passion for developing innovative solutions to address global health challenges. During my career, I have authored several papers in high-impact journals such as ACS Infectious Diseases, Trends in Food Science & Technology, World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, and Journal of Applied Microbiology. I have diverse project experience, including working as a Research Associate at Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre (GBRC), where I contributed to the Network Program on AMR, Superbugs, and One Health. My role involved establishing microbial culture policies, managing data-sharing platforms, and developing a dashboard to monitor AMR. I also investigated colistin and carbapenem resistance mechanisms in Gram-negative bacteria from clinical isolates. My prior experience as a Project Trainee at Madras Medical Mission Hospital provided me with clinical research expertise, where I conducted studies on blood culture practices, sepsis diagnosis, and Rubella IgG antibody screening. Additionally, I have led projects on Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS), focusing on genome assembly, annotation, and variant calling for bacterial pathogens. My research also explored how sub-inhibitory concentrations of antibiotics such as ceftriaxone and imipenem affect microbial protein expression. Throughout these projects, I developed proficiency in a range of microbiological techniques, including RT-PCR, PCR, SDS-PAGE, RNA/DNA isolation, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. I am also skilled in bioinformatics tools for genomics analysis and data visualization, with expertise in GraphPad Prism and the Microsoft Office Suite. I am committed to advancing research in AMR and microbial genomics to develop innovative approaches for tackling pressing public health issues.
