Summary

I am currently writing up my PhD in Bioengineering at the University of Edinburgh where i have focused on kidney tissue engineering, with work that extends beyond this field. I have designed 2 lab scale bioreactors for kidney tissue engineering and fabricated a variety of polymer scaffolds to utilize within this using such methods as: electrospinning, thermally induced phase separation, solvent cast and particulate leaching and high internal phase emulsions. I have designed projects that have resulted in 3 papers, 1 of which has recently been published and 2 which are under review. I have expertise in: cell culture, microscopy, RT-qPCR, 3D printing, CAD, CFD (ANSYS) and statistical analysis. Alongside my PhD work I have devised projects for and supervised 4 undergraduate and 5 master students. Resulting in 3 co-author papers which are currently under review. I have previously acted as treasurer for the University of Sheffield Raising and Giving society, saving the society over £10,000 by changing suppliers and streamlining receiving the 'Treasurer of the year' award out of over 300 other societies.
