Profile Summary

BSc in Biology and a PhD in Life Sciences - Microbiology and Infection. I have > 10 years of experience of research in Infectious Diseases, in special Infective endocarditis (IE) and endovascular infections associated with S. aureus and streptococci, and I have authored more than 20 peer-review publications and several poster presentations at International meetings. During my PhD I was focused on the bacterial virulence factors and their contribution to the pathogenesis of IE in native valve, with special attention to the bacterial-platelet interactions and immunization strategies using in vivo models. After this time I was interested in the susceptibility of different prosthetic heart valves to infection and the contribution of platelets, coagulation factors, plasma proteins and endothelial cell's inflammatory status. I am keen in pre-clinical development of Class III medical devices and grant applications (national and H2020). Currently I work as Scientist in Hemostasis IVD.
