Profile Summary

After completing an integrated MSc course in Biotechnology from Sardar Patel University I got an opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. at IIT Madras in an Electrophysiology Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Amal Kanti Bera. I focused on studying ion channels involved in the pathophysiology of stroke and their modulation by various compounds. I was able to publish my work in reputed journals. After my Ph.D., I was offered a post-doctoral position at the David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA. I spent a year at UCLA working on various projects. I got an opportunity to learn state-of-the-art techniques like brain slice electrophysiology, two-photon and confocal microscopy, CRISPR/Cas9 cloning. I also performed behavioral studies and stereotaxic brain surgeries in mice as part of the projects.
