He has expertise in fermentation, [nano]emulsion, [vacuum] distillation, herbal extraction, flavor science, product development, packaging and process engineering. He is the founder and owner of FuncBot (fka Functional Botanical Company), which specializes in bioactive non-alcoholic beverages, including the incorporation of cannabis and psychedelics with synergistic botanicals. He also consults on numerous other products, including canned RTDs, botanically enhanced hemp honey, psychedelic gummies, canned cocktails, dealcoholization and various fermented/distilled/infused beverages. - - Matt holds an MSc in Brewing and Distilling from Heriot-Watt University, BAs in History and Art History from Johns Hopkins University and a Professional Certificate in Cannabis Science and Medicine from University of Vermont, Larner College of Medicine. He halfway through a MS in Biotechnology at Johns Hopkins University. Matt was previously the Chief of Science and Distilling for Matchbook Distilling Company, a facility he designed from scratch. He also has several years of experience as a technical consultant for the distilling industry and more recently, for cannabis beverages. Matt has taught classes on the flavor science of beverages at the American Distilling Institute, the Bar Institute and the University of Gastronomic Sciences. Matt is also a decorated volunteer firefighter and EMT.
