Profile Summary

Working and living in three continents, Hossein has obtained more than 17 years of industrial and academic experience in Structural Engineering, including leading challenging R&D projects throughout the world. His recent invention called gapped-inclined brace (GIB) has largely gained interest worldwide and has been recently implemented in real buildings. Hossein’s primary expertise includes Design of various types of Structures, Seismic Retrofitting, Experimental Testing, Advanced Finite Element Modelling, Materials & Structural Systems Development, Autonomous Health Monitoring, Sustainability & Resilience, and Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing). His additional skills and experiences include teaching in world-leading universities, publication in leading international journals/conferences/institutions (+50 papers and technical reports), writing major grant proposals (+$2M), and developing codes/standards. Hossein is also familiar with international codes and guidelines, including ASCE-7, ASCE 41, UBC, IBC, ASTM, NBC, Eurocodes, CSA, NEHRP, FEMA, ATC, and ACI. He has several years of experience with advanced structural engineering software packages, including SAP, OpenSEES, Abaqus, Solidworks, Seismostruct, Seismosoft, Ansys, and Ruaumoko.
