Profile Summary

Dr Bahijja Raimi-Abraham is a pharmacist and Lecturer in Pharmaceutics at King’s College London. Her current research interests sit at the interface between pharmaceutics and clinical practice, and she is currently developing a new research direction with a focus on Ageing and Global Health. Dr Raimi-Abraham graduated with an MPharm degree from the University of East Anglia (UEA), School of Pharmacy in 2007 and registered with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (now General Pharmaceutical Council) in July 2008 after completing a pre-registration year at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. She then returned to UEA to undertake a PhD titled “The Design and Analysis of Sugar-Based Carrier Systems For the Protection of Nucleic Acids” under the supervision of Dr Susan Barker and Professor Duncan Craig and is the first graduate of UEA School of Pharmacy to be awarded a PhD. Dr Raimi-Abraham then went on to undertake an  Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funded postdoctoral research associate at the University College London (UCL) School of Pharmacy working with Professor Duncan Craig and Professor Mohan Edirisinghe (UCL Mechanical Engineering) exploring the “Exploitation of Pressurised Gyration as an Innovative Manufacturing Route for Nanofibrous Structures” (EPSRC reference EP/L023059/1)”. This project was supported by Astra Zeneca and BASF.  After successful completion of her EPSRC postdoctoral researcher position, Dr Raimi-Abraham went on a UCL Public Policy Secondment (funded from the UCL EPSRC IAA account) at the European Medicines Agency (EMA) before starting her lectureship at King’s College London.
