Profile Summary

I am a microbiologist and molecular biochemist with specialized expertise in Mycobacterium leprae and Mycobacterium tuberculosis research, molecular diagnostics, and host–pathogen interactions. As a Senior Research Fellow, I work extensively with clinical samples and advanced molecular techniques to develop sensitive and reliable diagnostic assays. My experience includes developing and standardizing real-time PCR assays (including RLEP and SSS assays), optimizing LAMP and conventional PCR workflows, and modifying cell-free DNA extraction protocols for low-biomass samples such as urine. I also work with whole-genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS) and sequencing data analysis, leveraging bioinformatics and Python-based tools. I have contributed to multiple translational research projects focused on identifying immunodominant proteins using LC-MS/MS, generating antibodies, and exploring serodiagnostic and lateral flow assay development for leprosy. My technical skills span molecular genetics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, targeted proteomics, flow cytometry, and protein characterization. I am also experienced in handling clinical samples including slit-skin smears, biopsies, sputum, and nasal swabs. My research background includes studying bacterial physiology in chronic infections, nutrient-starvation–driven metabolic suppression, and mechanisms underlying persistence.
