The information can be passed on to others in studying how to use the compounds and\/or plant species in making treatments or cures for the specific disease.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For many amateurs, performing an experiment with simple equipment can help to understand the laws and subjects of the natural world.\u00a0 For instance, an amateur scientist can use a microscope and an eyedropper to observe some cyanobacteria that were gathered from a terrarium and fungi from the inside of an old, moldy milk carton. These microorganisms can be used to study <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/foodtank.com\/news\/2014\/02\/cyanobacterial-bio-fertilizer-natures-own-solution-for-improved-soil-fertil\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">their relationship with plant growth<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0 The scientist can used literature to identify similar research about plant-microbe relationships. Several scientists are easily accessible on Twitter, Facebook and Reddit. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.labspaces.net\/blogs\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Labspace<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a platform for scientists to post articles and discussions.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Ordinary people that have a strong interest in science can participate with many groups on Facebook, such as the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/164797208486\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Society of Amateur Scientists <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/scienceleague\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Citizen Scientist League<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that can help people to perform science and share ideas with other experts. \u00a0 The user can connect with other scientists in the groups <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.nature.com\/soapboxscience\/2013\/09\/11\/want-to-be-a-professional-scientist-ask-to-join-the-facebook-group\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to share ideas and interests<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Although many<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3231985\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> professional scientists think that social media such as Facebook<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are a poor way of sharing research, they can be useful for amateur scientists to spread the word about science. People in these groups can use the research and links to further their research and\/or interest. Therefore, the use of online resources is essential for spreading knowledge to anyone who has an interest in science.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of course, social media is a double-edged sword: there is also the risk of fake news spreading rapidly on these websites. The presence of professional scientists on social media can help reduce the risk of fake news in science writing and journalism.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amateur science and citizen science is needed for the support and advancement of several scientific fields.
