As caracter\u00edsticas que os tornam alternativas comercialmente promissoras aos surfactantes sintetizados quimicamente s\u00e3o sua menor toxicidade, maior biodegradabilidade e, portanto, maior compatibilidade ambiental, melhores propriedades espumantes (\u00fateis no processamento de minerais) e atividade est\u00e1vel a extremos de pH, salinidade e temperatura.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As atividades de biosurfactantes podem ser determinadas medindo as mudan\u00e7as nas tens\u00f5es superficiais e interfaciais, a estabiliza\u00e7\u00e3o ou desestabiliza\u00e7\u00e3o das emuls\u00f5es e o equil\u00edbrio hidrof\u00edlico-lipof\u00edlico (HLB). As tens\u00f5es superficiais nas interfaces ar\/\u00e1gua e \u00f3leo\/\u00e1gua podem ser facilmente medidas com um tensi\u00f4metro. Os biosurfactantes t\u00eam propriedades \u00fanicas que os surfactantes sintetizados quimicamente n\u00e3o possuem, tais como alta atividade superficial, facilidade de uso, menor toxicidade, biodegradabilidade, aceitabilidade ecol\u00f3gica, boa atividade antimicrobiana e n\u00e3o perdem propriedades f\u00edsico-qu\u00edmicas em diferentes temperaturas, pH e n\u00edveis de salinidade. S\u00e3o amplamente utilizados nas ind\u00fastrias de recupera\u00e7\u00e3o microbiana de \u00f3leo (MEOR), agricultura, alimentos, cosm\u00e9ticos e farmac\u00eautica. Atualmente, o petr\u00f3leo bruto e os derivados de petr\u00f3leo s\u00e3o a principal fonte de poluentes de hidrocarbonetos para o solo e ambientes marinhos. Devido \u00e0 natureza insol\u00favel desses poluentes na \u00e1gua, sua remo\u00e7\u00e3o do meio ambiente \u00e9 muito dif\u00edcil.
