Ce processus est guid\u00e9 par des ARN interf\u00e9rents courts (ARNi) de 24 nt dont les pr\u00e9curseurs \u00e0 double brin sont synth\u00e9tis\u00e9s par l'ARN POLYMERASE IV (Pol IV) et l'ARN POLYMERASE 2 (RDR2) d\u00e9pendantes de l'ADN. La Pol IV et la RDR2 co-immunopr\u00e9cipitent, et leurs activit\u00e9s sont \u00e9troitement coupl\u00e9es, mais la base de leur association est inconnue.
