Tom Mitchell (professeur de C.S. au C.M.U.) d\u00e9finit l'apprentissage automatique comme un programme informatique dont on dit qu'il apprend de l'exp\u00e9rience \"E\" par rapport \u00e0 une certaine classe de t\u00e2ches \"T\" et une mesure de performance \"P\", si sa performance aux t\u00e2ches de \"T\", mesur\u00e9e par \"P\", s'am\u00e9liore avec l'exp\u00e9rience \"E\". En termes simples, l'essence de l'apprentissage automatique est la suivante <em>lorsqu'un programme informatique peut am\u00e9liorer la fa\u00e7on dont il ex\u00e9cute une certaine t\u00e2che par rapport \u00e0 ses performances pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes<\/em>. Si un programme informatique est capable de s'am\u00e9liorer r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement dans un jeu \u00e0 chaque fois qu'il y joue, alors ce programme informatique utilise l'apprentissage automatique pour am\u00e9liorer ses performances.<\/p>\n<p>Cela soul\u00e8ve la question critique de savoir comment un programme informatique peut apprendre par lui-m\u00eame. Par exemple, la plupart des programmes se comportent de la mani\u00e8re dont on leur donne des instructions. Pour la grande majorit\u00e9 des programmes informatiques, il existe des directives et des restrictions sur ce qu'un programme peut ou ne peut pas faire. C'est pourquoi, au premier abord, il semble \u00e9trange qu'un programme soit capable d'apprendre par l'exp\u00e9rience et de s'am\u00e9liorer apr\u00e8s chaque t\u00e2che. N\u00e9anmoins, c'est l'objectif et la sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 de l'apprentissage automatique. L'apprentissage automatique donne aux programmes informatiques la capacit\u00e9 d'apprendre et de s'am\u00e9liorer. Les deux principaux moyens par lesquels les programmes informatiques manifestent l'apprentissage automatique sont l'apprentissage supervis\u00e9 et l'apprentissage renforc\u00e9.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Supervised_Learning_vs_Reinforced_Learning\"><\/span><strong>Apprentissage supervis\u00e9 et apprentissage renforc\u00e9<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>L'apprentissage supervis\u00e9 consiste \u00e0 apprendre \u00e0 une machine \u00e0 faire quelque chose en utilisant des donn\u00e9es existantes. Les machines sont aliment\u00e9es par des tonnes de donn\u00e9es et l'algorithme utilise leurs donn\u00e9es pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment analys\u00e9es afin d'apprendre et de prendre des d\u00e9cisions. Par exemple, si une machine re\u00e7oit des tonnes de donn\u00e9es sur le secteur de l'immobilier, elle apprendra bient\u00f4t \u00e0 comprendre le march\u00e9 du logement en fonction de facteurs tels que l'\u00e9conomie, le march\u00e9 boursier, le taux d'imposition et la croissance d\u00e9mographique.<\/p>\n<p>D'autre part, l'apprentissage renforc\u00e9 suit une approche diff\u00e9rente de l'apprentissage automatique. L'apprentissage renforc\u00e9 alimente la machine en donn\u00e9es al\u00e9atoires ou sporadiques. Apr\u00e8s avoir parcouru des quantit\u00e9s massives de donn\u00e9es, la machine est capable de cr\u00e9er des mod\u00e8les et des jugements \u00e0 partir desquels elle peut apprendre. Ces mod\u00e8les sont ensuite \u00e9valu\u00e9s et corrig\u00e9s, ce qui permet \u00e0 la machine de mieux comprendre la t\u00e2che \u00e0 accomplir. Par exemple, les tout-petits apprennent une langue en \u00e9coutant leur entourage. Apr\u00e8s avoir entendu continuellement des mots et des phrases au hasard, ils commencent \u00e0 cr\u00e9er un mod\u00e8le qui a du sens pour eux. Cela leur permet d'apprendre une langue assez rapidement et d'interagir avec les autres.
