Her research focuses on the connections between South Western Asia, the Persian\/Arab Gulf, and Sub-Saharan East Africa. The history of the Indian Ocean, trade routes, Islam, ibadi Studies, Baloch tribes, and development issues are her main research topics through archive and fieldwork investigations. She has received grants and recognition from the Sultanate of Oman and from the UK for her research.
